Ca. Gov. re-hopeful knows how to rile up college students

Former California Governor and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown rallied College Democrats this weekend with a topic destined to kill.

This form the Sacramento Bee:

"When talking to college Democrats, Brown won thunderous applause by slamming rising tuition rates, declaring, 'Enough is enough. We have to stop it and roll it back. That's what we've got to do!'"

Probably could have gotten the same response from College Republicans.

Daily Texan to Gov. Perry: Umm, please protect state legislators

Texas Governor Rick Perry voted this week against placing metal detectors and x-ray machines at entrances to his state's capitol building.

The Daily Texan's editorial board took issue with Perry's vote.

Most other government buildings, including Austin City Hall and the federal courthouses here, have at least some type of visible security measure to screen people before entering. For whatever it’s worth — that is, even if these measures are purely security theater — they act as deterrents for would-be criminals.

Health care reform enters academia

According to The Daily Iowan, the University of Iowa will now be offering classes on Obama's recently passed health care reform act.

Though a university professor told the student paper that students will not be expected to read all 2,000 pages of the bill, he would like them to have a copy of it on hand.

Here's the fun part: According to the paper, the printing tab for those 2,000 pages will be $200.

No word yet on whether students will get a refund if the the law is repealed.

P is for politics

C is for campus or college.

Silly name, yes. But it was the first that came to mind. This is my attempt to cover politics on college campuses around the country.

Here you'll be able to find news and controversies and conversations with political junkies running around college campuses.

Shoot me advice or tips.

Enjoy.
